You may know that Lions Clubs primarily support Visual Impairment. Put simply Lions Clubs were challenged in 1925 at their convention by Helen Keller to help the blind. Diabetes is a leading cause of blindness affecting people in the United States and around the world. With this in mind the Lions started a Diabetic Awareness program called Strides.
Strides: Lions Walk for Diabetes Awareness program is an effective way for Lions to educate their communities about diabetes prevention and control. It is an exciting and active method of informing the public about diabetes and diabetic retinopathy, the leading cause of vision loss in adults of working age in industrialized countries.
With this in mind the Hot Springs Village Evening Lions are sponsoring a Diabetic Walk and Health Fair at the Universalist Unitarian Village Church, 403 Barcelona Rd. Hot Springs Village AR at the corner of Barcelona and Callela on April 26th 2014.
To date the Hot Springs Village Evening Lions Club has contributed $1.5 million dollars to Visual Impairment and other charities. All Lions are volunteers and all monies raised goes to help those in need. Please help us make this first Strides: Diabetic Walk a success!
